Joint Therapies/Intra-Articular Injections
When horses perform at high levels their joints undergo increased stress and strain, causing pain, lameness and compromised performance. As joints become inflamed there is often an increase in synovial fluid. The fluid may become thin and discolored and loses its ability to adequately lubricate the joint. By supplementing the joint with hyaluronic acid via intra-articular injections we can improve joint lubrication and decrease pain and inflammation. Shiland Equine offers a multitude of joint injection options, including polyacrylamide hydrogel (Noltrex) and regenerative therapy (Pro-Stride APS.) These options will be discussed in order to choose the most appropriate treatment based on your horse’s assessment.
