Shockwave Therapy

Shockwave therapy utilizes an acoustic sound wave that travels through a liquid filled probe, delivering high-energy pulses to a targeted area.  The high-energy pulses accelerate tissue repair by stimulating cell growth and increasing blood flow. It promotes collagen production and has an analgesic effect. Shockwave therapy can be used to treat various soft tissue and bone injuries including flexor tendon lesions, degenerative joint disease, bone fractures, wound healing, as well as muscle soreness.

The gold standard of treatment for many injuries is three shockwave treatments consisting of 1000 pulses per treatment delivered 2-3 weeks apart to maximize the healing benefits.  The treatments are administered while the horse is under sedation.  Each session lasts between 5-10 mins and can be done at your barn.
